Looking for a Job…

really sucks.

Application after application. Craigslist junk post after junk post. I’ve been doing a bare minimum of effort on it and I’m still tired of it already. I really do need to step up my game though.

Seriously, anyone in the Harrisburg area know of any jobs?

I know, I know, that’s a long shot, but I’m running out of ideas and out of patience. I have years of work experience and a few years of college education. Guess that’s not enough. I may have to consider finding a way to finish up my COMPTIA A+ certification so I at least have a certificate to show people.

Just thought I’d post this since people love seeing others whine about the job market online. 😛

Have an unbelievable day! Its back to the “grind” for me: Craigslist here I come!

UPDATE: I got an interview not fifteen minutes after I posted this. Funny how things work out isn’t it? 😀

Lack of Motivation

Not sure why I’m still dealing with such a lack of motivation to do anything. I don’t feel depressed, so I don’t think its that. I suppose its simply that I’ve become used to doing nothing.

I think maybe getting a job would help motivate me, but by the same token I don’t want to feel tied down to work. A temporary job would be cool. What would be even better is getting paid to write. I suppose I should start looking for some freelance stuff. That IS a notion of some merit.

Still, even writing doesn’t motivate me these days. I have two and a half novels to be working on, that should be plenty to keep me busy. Yet, there the novels sit, on my external hard drive, where they’ve been since the end of NaNoWriMo.

Anyone want to do some beta-reading so I can get started on editing it? The novel I think I should work most on in the second I ever wrote (first official NaNo project). Its sci-fi/space adventure with slashy romance in it. If anyone is interested in helping out I’d be happy to hook you up with a copy of it (just know that I’ll have it copyrighted in some way).

Other than that, my goals (as they stand now) are thus:

1. Get a part-time job and start saving up some money for a trip across country to California.
2. Edit my two completed novels.
3. Finish my third novel.
4. Continue having fun with my fiancee/twin-sis.
5. Be Awesome.
6. Open for additional additions in future.

I think my plate is full with those goals…

Thanks for reading my random ramblings! 🙂

Writing: So Easy a Caveman Can Do It

Writing is NOT easy people… 😛

I loved this article and I hope my fellow writers will like it as well.

Recently a Facebook friend shared a post with me regarding Indie Musicians versus Indie Authors. It appears our culture has a fascination and reverence for the Indie Musician whereas Indie Authors face an immediate stigma. We authors have to continually prove ourselves, whereas musicians don’t (at least not in the same way). My friend seemed perplexed, but to me it’s very simple.

We’re not even going to address the flood of “bad” books. Many writers rush to publish before they’re ready, don’t secure proper editing, etc. But I feel the issue is deeper and it reflects one of the many challenges authors face and always will.

People give automatic respect to a musician because not everyone can play an instrument or sing. Simple. It’s clear that artist can do something many cannot.

As writers, we have an insidious enemy. People…

I Return

If anyone noticed my absence, I apologize for said disappearance. I am back with every intention of sticking around.

I’ve been busy being too lazy to write. Yes, that is my excuse and I’m sticking to it. Seriously, though, I simply haven’t felt like writing. I wouldn’t really call it “writer’s block” as I don’t believe in that particular boogeyman. Still, its been hard for me to think of anything I feel is worth saying. My readership here is yet fairly small, but it still bothers me to come on and ramble about nothing as I am doing now.

In any event, I always feel much better about things when I am writing actively, so here I am. Currently I am looking for a job. So, if anyone knows of some openings in the Mechanicsburg area of PA…let me know please! Haha. “Good luck” right?

Still, I’ve not lost hope that soon I might be paid to write. Hopefully, I’ll find something that allows me to exercise my creativity at the very least. If I cannot find a writing job (freelance or something, perhaps) I suppose I’ll have to be happy stumping through yet another minimum wage part time job.

Back to the topic of writing: Camp NaNoWriMo is fast approaching. I’m considering what my goal might be for it and I’m thinking it will be to actually get some editing done on my first novel. I’ve been putting off the editing for far to long and I don’t even know why. So, wish me luck in getting that manuscript edited and ready for either submission to some publishing house or self-publication!

Thanks for reading and have an unbelievable day!

Map of the Underworld

This is just epic. Also, I think I know the way to said triklinion. 😉 It requires initiation of some kind for sure…though I have a sneaking suspicion that madness is one ticket in, haha.
